Tips for shy couples on your wedding day

Tips for shy couples on your wedding day

Hi Friends,
We are coming to you today with a helpful blog post for our shy/introverted couples! We know there is lots of you out there!!

Let’s be real, typical weddings are very much made for extroverted humans. At least in my opinion.
The day traditional is where you are the center of attention and there are many times throughout the day where the spotlight is on you and your person on purpose, and of course, it’s extremely hard not to have a wedding day where you aren’t the center of attention BUT there are some ways that you can make the day a little less scary and overwhelming if you are a person (like me) who doesn’t like when people stare at you all the time. hehe

Honestly, I wish I had seen a blog like this myself before I got married myself because ALOT of my nerves and stress was around the sheer amount of attention I was getting. Hopefully, this post gives you some ideas or inspiration if you can relate and are nervous about this kind of thing on your wedding day.

I have 8 tips for you today:

Tip #1: Don’t skip the engagement session

We have gone over this so many times but it’s SO important. The engagement session is the perfect time to meet your photographer and get comfy in front of the camera. We will help bring you through poses and prompts then when it comes to your wedding day you will already be comfortable will the prompts and poses and know what’s going to happen. Plus it will make getting your couple photos the day of a faster and more comfortable experience.

Tip #2: Get ready together

Non-traditional and cute as heck!

Tip #3: Exchange vows privately

Why not say your private vows to your person alone? Not in front of an entire crowd of people.
It makes for a more intimate and way less stressful ceremony.

Tip #4: Have a ‘First look’

A first look is just a moment before the ceremony where you and your person can see each other, hang out for a few moments alone, and take some photos before your walk down the aisle. I would say more than half our couples choose to do this and for good reason. It’s usually the moment that they are most stressed out for (Seeing your person.) SO once they do, it usually puts a lot of nerves at rest and also makes for cute photos! We definitely recommend the first look on your wedding day!

Tip #5: Ditch the cake cutting or do it unannounced

I feel like cutting the cake is on the way out these days! (Sorry, calling it.)
A lot of our couples don’t even choose to have traditional cake anymore. BUT if you still want that cake cutting or smashing the cake into your partner’s face photo, do it unannounced in a private location. Because typically the DJ or MC will announce “the couple is cutting the cake, come over and watch and take photos.” Which can be a little overwhelming if that isn’t your scene.

At my wedding we had pies and all I wanted was one photo of us holding the pies.
Then we ate it! It was delish. That was our version of the ‘cutting the cake photo.’

Tip #6: Invite guests or wedding party to join in during your first dance

We find a lot of couples are already doing this and we love it!
Helps take the pressure off of you two and it’s more fun with your friends and family dancing around you.

Tip #7: Have dogs at the wedding

I’m not even kidding- a doggo wants nothing more than attention! it’s the perfect plan!
Invite all the doggos for cute and unexpected moments. & bonus points if they are dressed up for the occasion.

Tip #8: Get eloped

The last and most obvious tip for you all!
If all this wedding planning and the idea of it overwhelms you and your partner then just get eloped! Have a backyard wedding or run to city hall. At the end of the day, the whole goal is to marry your partner and spend your lives together, so it doesn’t matter the size of the wedding or how you do it! Eloping is a great option for us shy kids who just want to make it official without all the extra fuss.

Thanks so much for checking out our blog today! If you found it helpful, please share!
Have a wonderful day xo
